Neeta Ragoowansi has been an entertainment attorney and music business professional for over 25 years and is Co-Founder & SVP, Business Development & Legal Affairs for US based company, NPREX (National Performing Rights Exchange), President of the Music Managers Forum – US (MMF-US), a Global Co-Chair & Board Officer of Women in Music, and the Diversity Task Force Chair for the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Entertainment & Sports Industries. Neeta also consults the finance/investment sector re: licensing/rights management and music industry issues, and is strategic advisor, business development resource and legal counsel to entertainment and tech industry clients in her New York based law practice, including Grammy award winning, major label and independent recording artists; technology start-ups; and music, television and theatrical production companies, as well as music publishers, composers, digital marketing companies, record labels, producers, venues, royalty agents, and talent managers. Formerly, Neeta was Head of Artist-Label Relations/Legal Counsel for SoundExchange, President of Women in Music, VP of Biz Dev/Legal for Tunesat, Asst. General Counsel for The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and National Symphony Orchestra, and a former board governor of The Recording Academy/Grammy organization (NY chapter).
Neeta also serves on the advisory boards of IMMF (International Music Managers Forum), Midem, SIM, and SXSW. Neeta has served as panelist/speaker at over 250 music industry conferences re: legal and copyright topics, artist management, as well as women’s leadership and empowerment including at SXSW, Midem, Music Biz, Eurosonic, Billboard Latin and R&B/Hip Hop, Digital Entertainment Worldwide (DEW), All About Music (Mumbai), SF Music Tech, Folk Alliance International, Americana Music Conference, Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), American Bar Association’s Forum on Entertainment and Sports Law Annual Meetings, and Future of Music Policy Summit. She received her B.A. from Emory University, Atlanta, GA and her J.D. from American University, Washington, DC, as well as attended Georgetown University as part of their LL.M., International Law program and University College, Oxford, UK.
